Success Stories

When it’s all said and done, only one thing matters…results. An event is not successful unless it accomplishes your objectives.

That’s the reason behind this part of our site, where you can read brief summaries of actual events produced and managed by Meritage Events. These mini-case studies show how we take hard targets and concrete goals…and make it happen. Check back often to read about our most recent projects, and don’t forget to browse the photo gallery as well.

We thank our clients for their business and for permission to use their stories here, and we hope you’ll let us make your event the next success.

Success Story - NFL Tradeshow

The National Football League (NFL) recently hired Meritage Events to organize their tradeshow called, “Emerging Business: A Platinum Experience”.

The upscale event not only allowed the vendors, including multiple catering companies, to display their products but included ornate seating areas, live entertainment, and “living décor” champagne showgirls.

With a short timeframe and 30 vendors to coordinate, the Meritage team pulled off an amazing event, achieving the “wow” factor the client desired, and successfully showcasing Dallas-Fort Worth’s top businesses to potential Superbowl 2011 sponsors.

Success Story - Four Seasons Forum

The Four Seasons Resort and Club Dallas at Las Colinas enlisted the help of Meritage Events to coordinate their annual client forum. The Four Seasons hosts the event to promote the many benefits of their properties across the globe.

The challenge was to create a breathtaking and fresh décor in the event space - which the guests had visited many times. Meritage chose a glamorous and modern palette of turquoise and white.

The ballroom was transformed to an upscale meeting space with custom lighting, multiple seating areas for group discussions, and live action food stations.

Meritage produced a breathtaking display of color and perspective and the client rewarded Meritage for “a job well done” by utilizing the company’s services regularly.

Success Story - Hospitality Night

Meritage Events had the fun challenge of bringing the best of Austin to attendees of a corporate hospitality night at the Hyatt Lost Pines in Bastrop, Texas. The event, which lasted a whopping six hours, was held for a predominantly male crowd visiting the Lone Star State from all across the country.

Guests were greeted by vintage-dressed cowgirls as they walked through an elaborate entrance of oversized guitars resembling the city’s famed Gibson statues decorated by different Austin artists. Above their heads, were bats “in flight”, recreating the celebrated nightly flight of millions of Mexican Freetail bats from under the Ann Richards Bridge.

“Manly” appetizers, like sliders, were served from a faux Airstream trailer and drinks were served from a huge vintage bar centered in the room. Graffiti and lighting “gobos” of the Texas Capitol and the UT tower adorned the walls.

Entertainment included armadillo races, Texas Hold ‘em tables, a champion “roper”, and a “Battle of the Bands” featuring the Paula Nelson Band and Two Tons of Steel.

Success Story - Employee Incentive Program

Meritage Events created a Southern-style employee incentive program for a national service provider that was so successful, the client used the program as a template for future events throughout the country.

This “pilot program” was held at Hyatt Lost Pines in Bastrop, Texas and consisted of 3 days of meetings, Southern-themed celebrations at night, and personal “meet and greets” at the airport by Meritage staff.

The first night, attendees received a warm Southern welcome at a rustic, cocktail gathering and the second night was a no-holds barred Texas hoe down. Guests danced the night away to a cover band that played favorite country tunes the beginning of the night and ended with 80s favorites, requested by attendees.

There was a custom-hat shaper on-hand who custom fit cowboy hats for all, professional line dancers to entertain, as well as teach dance techniques, and a steak dinner and a fajita station to satisfy all appetites.

Success Story - Weeklong Sales Conference

Meritage Events was chosen to coordinate a week-long international sales meeting for a popular retail company. The event was held at Hyatt Regency Resort & Spa at Gainey Ranch in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Called “Swing for the Fence”, the sports-themed event was designed to motivate their sales force to drive sales (out of the park). The guests attended educational general and breakout sessions during the day while their accompanying spouses enjoyed group activities, such as a Hummer ride through the desert, hot air ballooning, and a shopping tour.

Each night, attendees and spouses were treated to dinner and entertainment. Since each evening had a different theme, Meritage Events had to transform the same ballroom multiples times while keeping the look fresh and fun. One particularly well-received event was an Indian cultural activity in which guests painted flutes and made jewelry of beads and Indian stones.

The week was chock full of informative and entertaining events, from morning until night, and as they say “a good time was had by all.” So much so, Meritage Events was retained to design and coordinate the company’s next annual sales meeting before this one had ended!

Success Story - A Fundraising Gala

Every non-profit organization has one goal in common…raise more money. Different groups accomplish this in many different ways. This last spring Meritage Events was enlisted to help an organization take its annual scholarship fundraiser and make it like no other year. Two goals were put upon us, one, help increase money raised and two, boost attendance and awareness.

Being that this is a smaller chapter of a national organization, they were working with a strict budget and organization obstacles. We needed to create an evening of simple elegance that would celebrate the members and award winners of this organization. Once the evening of the gala approached guests were greeted in a sun-filled atrium with fun and interesting silent auction items to bid on, as well as get them in the mood for the live auction that would take place during dinner.

As the reception came to an end, guests were lead up a grand staircase into the beautifully decorated ballroom. Each table was draped in black linens with touches of white and silver and topped off with deep purple orchids to give it that feeling of style and grace. Specialty lighting and an elaborate AV set up made for an impressive awards presentation and show. To end it with a bang, the final live auction item broke its previous year’s record for the highest bid on a single item, ever.

Meritage Events made this year’s gala a success with increased attendance and exceeding the fundraising goal. Not only were guests happy with the event, they are already buzzing about the next gala and this is why we have been retained for next year’s benefit.

Success Story - Hangin' With Lyle and Vince

In the competitive legal industry, it takes something really special to make a client appreciation event stand out.  Meritage Events made it happen for a prominent Dallas firm, by creating an exclusive event featuring legendary Texan Lyle Lovett and the beautiful art work of Vincent Van Gogh in the spectacular setting of the Dallas Museum of Art.

The firm realized that their Marketing department’s time could best spent doing their ‘real’ jobs, and hired Meritage to produce the event turn-key, negotiating contracts, providing staffing and handling every detail.

• Even stunning venues can have challenges, and a museum is no exception.  We used special lighting and floral displays to create a focused performance and audience area within its vast spaces.

• Meritage provided hospitality and check-in staff, ensuring guests’ first impression was professional. This also allowed partners and firm personnel to focus on greeting their clients and guests in a relaxed setting, not from behind a registration table!

• Our client wanted substantial food…but creative as well. To make sure they were confident about the menu, we set up a tasting in advance. At the event, the food received rave reviews…another reflection of quality on the firm.

• Custom thank-you gifts provided the finishing touch…and they were talked about for days.

Meritage Events’ meticulous planning and precise execution produced an event that was unique, entertaining and stylish…just what the client ordered. In addition, we were able to provide cost efficiencies that saved them money.

“The event was simply flawless, and the best decision we made was to hire Meritage.  They’re complete professionals, and make us look like heroes. We’ve already retained them for a client appreciation event in one of our other markets.”
